Bernie Sanders and his wife Jane are under investigation for bank fraud because of their dealings in getting a loan for Burlington College (where Mrs’ Sanders was President) and for Bernie using his Office as Senator to unduly influence the loan application. It seems that this is just one more scandal in a long line of others, but Bernie says that the charges are actually politically based.
From the DNC leaked emails, we know that they scuppered Bernie’s chances of nomination on purpose, and rumours are now doing the rounds that this was the fallback plan. The sad truth is that the Democrats do not care for the electoral process and will lie, cheat, steal and even kill (Seth Rich) to achieve their political aims. So is it too far fetched to assume that they stitched up Bernie Sanders?
The reality is that any business or loan dealing with which a Senator is involved have a certain amount of political influence; whether it is expressed, implied or otherwise…having a Senator involved can only ever be a benefit. But the charges are that he “purposely influenced” the granting of the loan and that Jane Sanders “overstated” numbers to ensure it was granted.
As reported on CBS News:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and his wife, Jane Sanders have hired prominent defense attorneys, amid an FBI investigation into a loan Jane Sanders obtained to expand Burlington College while she was its president, CBS News confirms.
Politico Magazine first reported the Sanders had hired lawyers to defend them in the probe. Sanders top adviser Jeff Weaver told CBS News the couple has sought legal protection over federal agents’ allegations from a January 2016 complaint accusing then-President of Burlington College, Ms. Sanders, of distorting donor levels in a 2010 loan application for $10 million from People’s United Bank to purchase 33 acres of land for the institution.
According to Politico, prosecutors might also be looking into allegations that Sen. Sanders’ office inappropriately urged the bank to approve the loan.
Sen. Sanders, formerly mayor of Burlington, Vermont’s largest city and capital, regards the claims as a political game levied against him after his run for president in the 2016 primary election, a platform which has transformed the small-state senator into an influential voice in American liberal politics.
It seems strange that Bernie Sanders is the person on the altar at this time. When so many senior Democrats have been involved in so many scandals that are not being investigated, and there is so much evidence of electoral misconduct…Why Bernie? If he is guilty, then, of course, he should be punished, but is this rally the highest priority right now? Is there something bigger that the DNC is trying to cover up?
And if push comes to shove, how much does Bernie know about what was really happening in the Democrat machine during the election, and would he be willing to spill the truth?
